  1. We became a member of the Green Tourism Business Scheme.  This encourages us to look at all the area's where we could improve, such as recycling and energy efficiency.
  2. We introduced a lunchbox challenge to encourage school children to recycle more and think about food packaging
  3. Working in partnership with the North pennines AONB Peatscape project we introduced a carbon conservation scheme
  4. We created a dedicated Green Team of Killhope staff who meet regularly to discuss green issues and idea's for the museum
  5. We won the North East's Sustainable Tourism Award in 2007 in recognition of all of our hard work
  6. Introduced our nature backpack so that visitors can learn about the wildlife and habitats in our beautiful woodland
