How Killhope Went Green

- We became a member of the Green Tourism Business Scheme. This encourages us to look at all the area's where we could improve, such as recycling and energy efficiency.
- We introduced a lunchbox challenge to encourage school children to recycle more and think about food packaging
- Working in partnership with the North pennines AONB Peatscape project we introduced a carbon conservation scheme
- We created a dedicated Green Team of Killhope staff who meet regularly to discuss green issues and idea's for the museum
- We won the North East's Sustainable Tourism Award in 2007 in recognition of all of our hard work
- Introduced our nature backpack so that visitors can learn about the wildlife and habitats in our beautiful woodland
