The Pennine Jewels is a fantastic collection of minerals which sit along side the ‘Magnificent Minerals' exhibition.
The National Spar Box Collection is held at Killhope. Spar boxes were a traditional art form in the North Pennines which flourished in the late 19th century.
The largest box is known as the Egglestone spar box and is a combination of fretwork and minerals. It is believed to have been made by Joseph Eggleston and was transported by horse and cart to the local shows.
