Museums Live
Killhope is the lead partner in Museums Live! - a cultural volunteering project for West Durham. It's a chance for young people aged 16-25 to gain new skills in the cultural sector, whether that's art, drama, music, heritage interpretation, environmental projects or a completely unique idea of their own.
The first young people visited Killhope in October 2008, making a film around the site and offering ideas as to how the project might work. Shortly afterwards, volunteers started working onsite and with partner organisations across Teesdale, Weardale and Wear Valley. From January 2009 a group will meet every Wednesday for volunteer team challenges across the area, working with artists and environmentalists to experience a wide range of cultural activities and to make a real difference to the communities in which they live.
