At Killhope we believe passionately in sustainability and that every little bit of 'green' effort can make a difference. Every year we bring something new and green to Killhope. Last year we had an exhibition about recycling and this year we are offering visitors the chance to take part in a unique carbon conservation project.
Killhope is working in partnership with the North Pennines AONB Peatscapes project to offer visitors the chance to offset their carbon emissions from their travel to Killhope by making a donation to the project. You can make any donation you like from as little as 1p.
We are extremely proud of the green awards that we have, including the Gold award in the Green Tourism Business Scheme and a gold award in the One North East Tourism awards for Sustainable Tourism in 2007.
In the shop we have items that are locally produced or made from recycled materials.
In the cafe they use local, Fairtrade and organic produce.
